Delhi CJP Protest Live News Updates: CJP’s Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka have been detained from the flight they landed in at the Delhi Airport ahead of the Jantar Mantar protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Earlier, CJP’s legal team head Ratna Singh and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee were detained, while over 1000 people have been detained since last night.
Four former chief ministers from the Opposition camp were detained in the capital amid the police crackdown on the protests.
Former Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar were detained as they tried to join the CJP protest.
The police have not granted permission for the protest, and several steps have been taken by authorities to maintain law and order.
Entry and exit gates at 45 Delhi Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk and Kashmere Gate, will remain closed, and over 250 trains from other states, along with local trains, which were scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday, have been cancelled.
Internet services have also been suspended within a radius of 4 km from the Janpath-Kartavya Path crossing for 24 hours.
