Milwaukee Bucks will go up against the Philadelphia 76ers today at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Bucks will look to get their first win of the season, while the 76ers will try to stay undefeated. The 76ers have shown in their first two games that they will be very tough to beat, beating the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Philadelphia’s starting five is unlike any other in the league. Milwaukee, meanwhile, is adjusting to life without Giannis Antetokounmpo after he was traded to Miami in the off-season. But the 76ers are dealing with lots of injuries.
Joel Embiid Injury Update: Philadelphia 76ers Manage Star Center’s Workload Ahead of Detroit Pistons Clash
All this is happening while the 76ers are being very careful with their stars, making sure they are following strict plans that monitor their workloads. LeBron James and Joel Embiid have had to deal with frequent injuries over the last couple of seasons, so Philadelphia has them on minutes restrictions to start the year. Embiid has already made it clear that he will only play against either the Detroit Pistons or the Milwaukee Bucks in the 76ers’ back-to-back this weekend.
Embiid will play for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Bucks as part of the team’s back-to-back schedule. The center is available for the matchup under Philadelphia’s workload management plan and is not on the injury report. Embiid is projected to sit out against the Detroit Pistons as the 76ers aim to monitor his minutes in the early portion of the season.
Embiid logged 34 minutes on the floor on Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers and finished with 24 points. His workload is still a key factor for Philadelphia, especially in back-to-back games. The 76ers are trying to balance the need for Embiid’s scoring and interior presence with keeping him healthy over the regular season. Slotting him in against Detroit would give him some extra time to recover before the next games.
Joel Embiid’s Role Alongside LeBron James and Jaylen Brown in the 76ers’ New-Look Lineup
Joel Embiid is still the Philadelphia 76ers’ star center as the 2026-27 NBA season approaches. He’s playing with new superstars LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, which makes for a high-profile lineup for the franchise. The pairing gives Philadelphia a number of offensive options, with Embiid providing an inside scoring presence and James and Brown bringing their own playmaking and scoring abilities. As the season moves forward, the team will be looking to build chemistry between its key players.
Embiid was off to a strong start to the 2026-27 campaign, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a 2-0 record. An early highlight was a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in which the center scored 24 points. His performance was a reminder of how important he is to Philadelphia’s offense in tight games. The 76ers need Embiid to continue to deliver reliable scoring and leadership as the schedule wears on. Managing his workload, especially in back-to-back contests, will also be key if the team wants to ensure he’s available throughout the season.
