Cyclone Montha Live Updates: Coastal districts of Andhra are experiencing rain and strong winds as the landfall of Cyclone Montha commenced. Cyclone Montha is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada as a severe cyclonic storm.
As the landfall process continues for around four hours, heavy rains and winds of 90-100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph are expected.
The weather office issued red alerts for 19 districts in Andhra Pradesh, forecasting extremely heavy rains. The neighboring states of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerela and Karnataka are also expected to receive moderate to heavy showers.
In view of the severe cyclonic storm, the Indian Railways cancelled, diverted and rescheduled multiple passenger trains across the Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway Zone.
