The auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to take place at the ITC Grand hotel in Goa on December 16, as per NDTV sources. The IPL 2027 auction marks the return of the event to India after four years, with the previous editions being held in Dubai, Jeddah (mega auction) and Abu Dhabi. Earlier this year, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal revealed that the BCCI had always wanted to hold the auctions in India, but logistical challenges forced the board to stage the past three editions overseas.
“Every year we try for this to happen in India, but we don’t get the venue given the heavy marriage season. So, we definitely want it to be here this year, given that it would be a smaller auction and hopefully we will get the venue,” Saikia had said.
According to NDTV sources, the franchises have been informed by the BCCI’s logistics team, confirming the date and venue, but formal confirmation is still awaited.
The message was forwarded to facilitate logistical arrangements and travel bookings ahead of the auction in Goa.
India are scheduled to play an ODI against Sri Lanka on December 16 in Bengaluru.
