The first teaser of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana dropped yesterday, offering a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor’s multifaceted portrayal of Lord Rama.
Mounted on a massive Rs 4,000 crore budget, Ramayana is poised to be Indian cinema’s grandest spectacle yet.
Curiosity is equally sky-high about the star-studded cast’s fees. Industry reports reveal Ranbir Kapoor earned Rs 75 crore per part—for a whopping total of Rs 150 crore. Yash, playing Ravana, reportedly charged Rs 100 crore.
FYI: The epic releases in two parts, with the first hitting worldwide screens in October 2026 ahead of Diwali, and the second slated for Diwali 2027.
Ranbir Kapoor
A Times of India report states Ranbir charged Rs 75 crore per part, totaling Rs 150 crore— a huge leap from his previous paydays. For Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, he earned Rs 25-30 crore (per News18 and Bollywood Life). For the blockbuster Animal, he reportedly bagged Rs 30-35 crore plus a profit share.
Sai Pallavi
Sai Pallavi, steadily rising in Hindi cinema, has upped her fee from her usual South Indian projects. She’s reportedly earning Rs 6 crore per part (per TOI), totaling Rs 12 crore for the franchise. Numbers might look modest compared to her co-stars, this still marks a big leap from her Rs 2.5-3 crore remuneration for South Indian projects. She reportedly charged Rs 5 crore for Thandel – her biggest so far (before Ramayana).
Yash
Kannada superstar Yash is charging Rs 50 crore per instalment (per TOI), for a total of Rs 100 crore-a sharp hike from his Rs 30-35 crore range during the KGF: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 era. Bolstered by his pan-India stardom and the franchise’s blockbuster run, he has secured a heftier slice of the pie.
Sunny Deol
Veteran Sunny Deol, set to play Lord Hanuman, is earning Rs 20 crore per part—totaling Rs 40 crore (per TOI). This aligns closely with his Gadar 2 payday, which reaffirmed his box-office pull.
Ravi Dubey
TV star Ravi Dubey is reportedly getting Rs 2-4 crore for Laxman (per TOI). With no confirmed combined figure for both parts, it’s already his fattest film paycheck yet—catapulting his market value from his Television earnings.
Budget
Ramayana has been made on a staggering budget of Rs 4,000 crore.
Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, producer Namit Malhotra revealed, “When we set out to make this six or seven years ago, people thought I was a lunatic because no Indian film comes close to this scale. Put simply, the budget will be around $500 million for both parts combined, which is over Rs 4,000 crore.”
He added, “We’re making the largest film in the world for the greatest epic that deserves to be seen globally. And yet, I believe we’re doing it more efficiently than some of the biggest Hollywood films. We’re not being irresponsible-we’re being ambitious, but grounded.”
Music
AR Rahman and Oscar-winning Hans Zimmer have collaborated on this project for the first time.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Rahman discussed his high-profile collaboration: “It’s terrifying for both of us. We’re scoring something so iconic and so important to the world. So in the promo, I think he had a soundscape; then I took that and added the Sanskrit words at the end and everything. What’s complicated is that we’re taking something so epic, which every Indian knows, and we have to give them something new. We have to give something to the world-from India to the world.”
The film is set to be released in two parts, with the first instalment scheduled to release worldwide in October 2026 ahead of Diwali, while the second part is slated for Diwali 2027.
