Explosions have been reported on Kharg Island, an important oil export hub near the Strait of Hormuz, on Tuesday, according to semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr.
Meanwhile, Axios has reported, citing a senior US official, that the American military conducted strikes on military targets on the island.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb or seize the island multiple times. On March 30, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “We will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!),” he wrote.
