non stop news concept background

WWE Money in the Bank recently made an impromptu change. Byron Saxton’s announcement of Money in the Bank, instead of Alicia Taylor’s, caught the attention of many WWE fans who watched the broadcast last night. Saxton is typically seen as a backstage interviewer or a member of the commentary crew. Taylor later explained on Instagram why she was replaced. She added that although she was disappointed, she supported Saxton taking over.

Alicia Taylor reveals why she missed WWE Money in the Bank

After Alicia Taylor disclosed on social media that she had lost her voice and was too sick to work, Byron Saxton took over as the ring announcer at WWE Money in the Bank 2026. Saxton then made sure the event went off without a hitch. Since she hasn’t given an update confirming her attendance at the event, it’s unknown if she will also cover RAW.

Taylor wrote, “Ughhh, woke up with barely a voice.. I’m at the arena, but have to head out. SUPER bummed to miss #MoneyInTheBank. Let’s go, Saxman!! @officialbyronsaxton filling in on #MITB.”

It’s still unknown, though, if Taylor’s voice loss was brought on by a medical issue or vocal strain from her job. Because they are used to Taylor’s voice, many fans were aware of the difference. Saxton was a good choice, and the decision was made only before the show, even though WWE might have called on Lilian Garcia for a longer-planned substitute.

For context, WWE Monday Night Raw’s ring announcer at the moment is Alicia Taylor. She was SmackDown’s ring announcer in 2024 after working with the NXT broadcast team from 2019 to 2024. Taylor, who was hired by WWE in December 2018, has experience as a professional touring and session drummer, having played with Miley Cyrus, Kelly Osbourne, and Selena Gomez.

Oba Femi further raised the stakes by confronting World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns after his successful title defense, setting up potential future developments. In the World Heavyweight Championship event, Roman Reigns defeated LA Knight to maintain his supremacy, and in the Women’s World Championship match, Liv Morgan triumphed over Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch. Additionally, Oba Femi defeated Bronson Reed in singles.
