India Pakistan Ceasefire LIVE updates: All military bases and systems continue to remain fully operational and are ready to undertake any mission if the need arises, India said on Monday, two days after it entered into a ceasefire with Pakistan even as the neighbouring country violated the understanding hours later.
Addressing a press briefing, Air Marshal AK Bharti said Operation Sindoor that was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack only ensured targeting of terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and Islamabad was responsible for any losses incurred.
The remarks on the operation – that escalated bilateral tensions as it led to strikes and counter-strikes between the two nations – came hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a public address at 8pm.
Sources in the Army said it was “largely peaceful” in Jammu & Kashmir and other areas along the International Border (IB), which witnessed blackouts, and drone attacks and firing by the Pakistani forces last week, on Sunday night.
On Saturday, India and Pakistan reached an agreement to stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea, with effect from 5pm. Pakistan, however, violated the agreement within hours of it combining into effect.
