Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn reportedly wanted to meet the singer before she married Travis Kelce, hoping to clear up unresolved feelings from their six-year relationship. According to a RadarOnline report, the actor wanted to “resolve some lingering issues” and understand why their relationship ended. The report also claimed Kelce pushed back on the idea, while Swift did not want to meet Alwyn. A source told RadarOnline that Swift felt it was better to keep her distance from exes and that meeting Alwyn could be painful. Swift and Kelce later married at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3, 2026.
Joe Alwyn reportedly wanted closure with Taylor Swift
Alwyn and Swift dated for about six years before their relationship ended in 2023. Much of their time together was kept private, and neither publicly gave a detailed explanation for the breakup.
Before Swift’s wedding to Kelce, Alwyn reportedly wanted one final conversation with her. The RadarOnline source said, “Joe wants to resolve some lingering issues and finally shut the door on the past. He just wants to get a better understanding of why it didn’t work out between them.”
The report said Kelce pushed back when Alwyn wanted to meet, while Swift also did not want to reopen the relationship. The source explained, “She expressed her feelings in her album and got a lot out of her system, and she just thinks it’s better to keep distance from exes,” adding, “Taylor’s happy with Travis, and a lot of her friends think it would be too painful to see Joe again. She wishes him well, but she doesn’t want to see him.”
The claims about Alwyn’s request and Kelce’s reaction come from RadarOnline and have not been publicly confirmed by Swift, Alwyn or Kelce.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married at Madison Square Garden
Swift and Kelce married on July 3 at Madison Square Garden, with actor Adam Sandler officiating. Their marriage was confirmed by Swift’s publicist, while reports said the ceremony brought together hundreds of guests.
Kelce later spoke warmly about the wedding during a September interview with ESPN. “It was the best night of my life,” Kelce said. “Marrying Taylor was more than I could have ever dreamed it to be because of all the people that showed up, and the amount of, you know, love that was in the air.”
On the September 2 episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce also said, “I’m a married man. It was insane. Me and Taylor are so thankful to everybody that showed up.”
He added, “It was just so magical, man. Thank you to everyone at MSG that allowed us to do this. We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions; we needed it to be a private feel. MSG went above and beyond to give us that.”
