American professional wrestler and WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is best known as a babyface and a top singles contender. His approach has a strong blend of in-ring storytelling, power moves, technical wrestling, and striking. Now he has declared that he has formally re-signed with WWE and plans to complete his in-ring wrestling career with the organization during an interview on the Flagrant podcast. He further talked about his plan for a family. According to the American Nightmare, he wasn’t sure when it would be time to start a family. When he was about eight years old, he said he felt like his parents were always there for him, and when the time comes, he would love to be there for his kids as much as possible.
Cody Rhodes reveals WWE deal details and opens up about his wrestling retirement plans
Unlike his on-screen antagonist Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes may not hear “voices” in his head, but he paid attention to whoever he was discussing his upcoming WWE deal with. While promoting his latest film, Street Fighter, Rhodes disclosed the decision on “Flagrant” with comedian Andrew Schulz. He was asked if he had a chance to consider settling down or if he had a specific date in mind for his wrestling retirement.
While talking about veteran transitions and retirement timetables on the show, Rhodes casually revealed the news of him re-signing with WWE. He also joked that he wasn’t even sure whether he was permitted to disclose it yet. He affirmed that this current agreement is anticipated to be his last one as a full-time professional wrestler, saying,
“Forgive me if this is breaking news, and please edit it if I’m not allowed to share it, which is fine, I just re-signed with WWE. So, I’ll end my wrestling career (there).”
He continued, “I’ll end my wrestling career with WWE, but also my wrestling career with WWE might continue. … We’re now able to go do this stuff (films). So, say I do have another project. Say I got two other projects, whatever it may be, I’m able to take a step away, and I’m able to collaborate with WWE, and I’m able to come back home. I’m just saying, I’m able to come back home.”
According to Rhodes, WWE’s current organizational structure gives him greater freedom. He gets freedom to take a break and work on outside multimedia ventures before coming back. This is like promoting the next Street Fighter movie with Roman Reigns.
Cody Rhodes reflects on his WWE journey and family’s plans
Rhodes is the son of legendary pro wrestler Dusty Rhodes. He began his WWE career in 2006 and worked hard in Ohio Valley Wrestling before receiving a call-up in 2007. He notably left the business to establish his own reputation on the independent circuit in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Meanwhile, the Rhodes family welcomed Leilani last year and Liberty in 2021.
On the other hand, in the founding of All Elite Wrestling, he worked there for almost ten years. At WrestleMania 38, he triumphantly returned to the WWE as Seth Rollins’ unidentified opponent. He has since developed into one of the biggest names in professional wrestling. At WrestleMania 40, he concluded his tale and took home the Undisputed WWE Championship.
